I’m always up for a kitchen experiment especially when it comes to making weeknight dinners a little easier and a little more exciting. Lately, the air fryer has been earning its spot on the counter in a big way. I’ve made veggies, chicken, snacks, even desserts in it… but steak? That one surprised even me.
Spoiler: I’m glad I gave it a shot.

- Sirloin or top round steak (1 pound)
- 1/4 freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp rice wine
- 1 in piece of ginger, grated
- 1 package of arugula
- 4 scallions, diced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 4 fingerling potatoes, sliced paper-thin
Let’s Cook!
Season the steak with salt and pepper and let it rest on the counter till it comes to room temperature. Mix the lemon juice, soy sauce, rice wine and ginger in a small bowl. Set aside till it’s time to serve.
Cook the steak in the air fryer at 400 degrees for five minutes. Flip and cook for another 3-5 minutes (if you like it medium). Remove the steak and let it rest on a cutting board. While the steak is resting, wipe out the air fryer basket. Toss the potatoes with some salt and pepper and olive oil. Cook them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes, shaking the basket every minute (you might need to work in batches – these cook super quick because they’re so thin.)
Spread the arugula on a serving platter and top with the sliced steak. Give everything a nice coating of the dressing then top with the green onion and sesame seeds. Top with the potatoes and enjoy!
What’s the dish that’s most surprised you lately? I’d love to hear about it!
Eat well friends!
