Honestly, I love a little something sweet throughout the day (not just after dinner). But as much as I’d love to live on ice cream, I know that’s probably not the wisest choice for my waistline!
So I’ve been experimenting with satisfying those sugar cravings in a way that still feels like a treat.
That’s where this chocolate cottage cheese mousse comes in. Using cottage cheese (trust me, it’s not nearly as weird as it sounds) adds a boost of protein and calcium, while maple syrup brings just enough sweetness to hit the spot. Blend everything together, chill it for a bit, and you’ll have a rich, creamy dessert that feels wonderfully indulgent.

Chocolate Cottage Cheese Mousse
Ingredients
- 2 cups full-fat cottage cheese
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp almond extract
- Pinch salt
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
Let’s Cook!
- Blend the cottage cheese for about 5 minutes or until completely smooth
- Add the remaining ingredients and blend for another 2 minutes
- Chill for 30 minutes before serving
- Top with some whipped cream and enjoy
Notes From My Kitchen
- The heavy cream is optional, but it makes it richer and creamier
- Honey can be substituted for maple syrup
- If you aren’t a fan of almond, you can swap vanilla extract instead
If you want to make it feel a little extra special, top it with mini chocolate chips or chopped pecans.
It’s delicious all on its own, but now that it’s cherry season, I’ve been topping mine with fresh pitted cherries for a Black Forest cake vibe. It’s quickly become one of my favorite summer desserts.
Eat well friends!
