Well, we turned the calendar and suddenly it’s October. Wait, where has the year gone? But the change of seasons means a return to one of my favorite things to share with you all: what’s happening in my kitchen!

What’s for Breakfast?
There’s been a constant debate in my kitchen since I discovered my silicone mini-muffin pans: what’s for breakfast? I’ve been alternating between something sweet (Spiced Banana Chip Mini Muffins), something savory (Make Ahead Egg Bites) and even serving an old favorite a new way (Mini Crustless Quiches)

Fall is in the Air!
The weather is cooler, the leaves are changing, and the farm stands are loaded with apples. And I’ve never been one to pass up a local market. That also means I inevitably find myself dealing with apple overload! So apples can make an appearance for dinner (Pork Chops with Caramelized Apples), on the breakfast table (Cozy Apple Bread) and obviously for dessert (Streuselkuchen: My Mom’s Favorite German Apple Cake)

Soup’s On…
Hubs and I have spent a lot of time talking about soup lately which we can take as another sign of fall. And what’s better than coming in from a fall adventure to a steaming pot of soup? I’m not sure in our house there is any! First on our growing soup list is loaded potato soup, with beef stew in bread bowls (Stew counts as a soup in my kitchen) and my favorite twist on Italian Wedding Soup

Julia has Entered the Kitchen
What does one do when saddled with a head cold and sad about missing girls’ golf day? Well, apparently in this kitchen, we break out Mastering the Art of French Cooking and pick a dish. I actually made Râpée Morvandelle (just don’t ask me to pronounce it!): shredded potatoes, ham, eggs and onions baked into a gratin. So good. So comforting. Just what I needed. Plus I think I made Julia Child proud with this effort.
What’s happening in your kitchen? I hope you’re savoring what life gives you, right here and right now.
Eat well friends!
